Fire Emblem VS Final Fantasy! It's a battle of lesser-known JRPG secondary antagonists! A unique twist pitting Knight against Judge in this battle of armored warriors!

Black Knight (Fire Emblem) vs. Gabranth is the 24th episode of DEATH BATTLE! by Shadow7615, featuring Black Knight from the Fire Emblem series and Gabranth from the Final Fantasy series in a battle between armoured swordsmen with concealed motives.

Interlude[]

Boomstick: For as long as there's been order and peace in the world, there have been many kinds of enforcers, Knights and Judges included.

Wiz: While these two armored foes are loyal to their superiors, their true motives, feelings and names lay beneath the armor.

Boomstick: The Black Knight, Rider of Daein.

Wiz: And Gabranth, the Judge Magister.

Boomstick: He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick!

Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win... a Death Battle.

Black Knight[]

Wiz: The continent of Tellius was home to many different countries, the Begnion Empire, the Monarchy of Crimea and the Kingdom of Daein, at least, that the full-blooded humans ruled.

Boomstick: Tellius is also home to Laguz, a race of people who can transform into animals based on their tribe, beasts, birds, and dragons, and anyone who didn't reside within the Laguz Nations would face judgment and discrimination all their life, which was the case for young Zelgius.

Wiz: Zelgius was born into Daein, unbeknownst to him, someone on his father's side was a Laguz, proven by the mark on his back shoulder, this was the sign that Zelgius was, in fact, a Branded, a half-human, half-laguz to an extent, because of this, Zelgius grew up with a miserable childhood, even being looked down on and hated by his own family.

Boomstick: So the young Zelgius ran away from home and joined the Daein army in order to escape his suffering, sure enough, he would end up serving under Greil, one of the Four Riders of Daein, who he admired so much that he wanted to battle him one day.

Wiz: During his time in the Daein army, he met the Prime Minister of Begnion, Sephiran, whom Zelgius showed his branded mark, hoping he could remove it, while Sephiran could not remove it, he told Zelgius to seek him out after his time at the Daein army was up, After leaving the Daein army, he reunited with Sephiran and worked for him, eventually becoming the commander of the Begnion army.

Boomstick: Sometime later, Zelgius and Sephiran sought out Greil, who was in the possession of Lehran's Medallion, however, they both learned too late the Medallion had corrupted Greil, made him murder his own wife, as well as his own soldiers and villagers, talk about a shitty Monday.

Wiz: Zelgius knew if he was going to face his former commander in battle ever again, that he would need to make sure he was powerful as Greil, to this end, Zelgius found himself a special suit of full-body black armor that had been blessed by the goddess Ashera, donning the armor, as well as the divine sword Alondite, Zelgius took on his new identity as The Black Knight.

Boomstick: Now that's more like it! The Black Knight's armor is divine in nature, making it impenetrable to all weapons except those that have been blessed by gods, such as his sword's counterpart, Ragnell, The Black Knight has access to numerous other arcane items as well, such as the Warp Powder, which lets him teleport great distances.

Wiz: The Black Knight also possesses a great number of skills he can utilise in battle, like Nihil, with 100% activation rate, it prevents the Black Knight's opponents from activating any of their battle oriented skills, Imbue allows the Black Knight to heal himself equal to the level of his magic and Shove allows the Black Knight to forcibly push back an opponent so long as they don't outweigh him.

Boomstick: Then there's his best skill, Eclipse. When activated, Eclipse multiplies his strength by 5, as well as negating his foe’s defences, making any and all of his attacks fatal, this can even be a legitimate threat to that bitch of a goddess Ashera.

Wiz: The Black Knight is also capable of using Lances in battle, he also carries a Concoction on hand in case he needs to heal himself in combat on short notice, the Black Knight is also faster than you'd expect, while his armor naturally makes him slower than most, his heritage to the Laguz actually increases his natural speed and agility, leading some to believe the Black Knight has Raven Laguz blood within him.

Boomstick: Throughout his journey, the Black Knight has accomplished much, he is skilled enough to defeat full-blooded Laguz and Humans alike, strategic and smart enough to lead Begnion army to victory on numerous occasions, tough enough to escape a castle after it buried him alive, and winning enough victories to surpass his commander, Greil, after killing him of course.

Wiz: Although through doing this, he turned Greil's son, Ike into his mortal enemy, and Ike would defeat him twice, especially once Ike received Ragnell, which would be the most lethal weapon used against the Black Knight, plus the Black Knight is also chivalrous, refusing to harm his opponent if they are not armed, which got him labelled a traitor by his Begnion superiors who overthrew Sephiran.

Boomstick: But the Black Knight wasn't gonna have that, so he rescued Sephiran, kicked the shit out of the Disciples of Order and battled Ike one more time!

Wiz: Even though Zelgius lost his life to the Son of Greil, he knew all along his master's legacy had carried over to Ike, and that he'd finally gotten the battle that he waited for all his lie.

Zelgius: I trust you know who you face. Zelgius, commander of this army. If you are not worthy of fighting me, then you are only wasting my time.

Gabranth[]

Wiz: The Republic of Landis was once a peaceful land home to the fon Ronsenburg family, including Noah and Basch, and for a long time it seemed the family would live a peaceful life.

Boomstick: But like ALL stories with a Republic, it was eventually overthrown and fell under the occupancy of an Empire, in this case, it was the Arcadian Empire, and their actions divided the fon Ronsenburg family, while his younger brother Basch fled to another country, Noah accepted the empire's rule.

Wiz: Having sworn his allegiance to the Empire, Noah began to rise in power, and once he reached the pinnacle, he became the iconic Judge Magister, Gabranth, where he became the leader of the Judge Magisters and served under the rule of Vayne Solidor.

Boomstick: As a Judge Magister, Gabranth has a unique set of armor with one crazy helmet design, with some horns for some reason, which helps distinguish him from his fellow Judges, though one of Gabranth's most unique traits is his weapon.

Wiz: Gabranth's weapon is a dual-bladed sword which he can freely disconnect at the hilt to wield as two separate blades, allowing him to use techniques such as Innocence, Hatred, Execution, Aero, Vortex of Judgement and Gaia Breach.

Boomstick: Though what's life like in a fictional world if you don't possess some kind of magic, luckily, Gabranth his plenty of those in combat, he possesses a number of Quickenings which his brother Basch also learned, his Level 1 Quickening, Fulminating Oblivion launches a dark energy beam at his foes.

Wiz: Gabranth's Level 2 Quickening, Ruin Unflinching allows Gabranth to deliver powerful energy enhanced punches, and his Level 3 Quickening is Frost Purge, where he launches several energy swords into his foes, trapping them due to sheer numbers alone.

Boomstick: And then there's the best Quickening he has, it has three variations depending on how well he performs his other Quickenings in succession, his first variation is Inferno, which traps his foes inside a huge fireball, his second variation Ark Blast shocks his foes with a devastating ball of electricity and the third? A FUCKING BLACK HOLE!!

Wiz: Kinda? A real black hole is fueled by consuming matter and evaporates only when all matter around it has been swallowed up, the black hole that Gabranth uses does have a strong vacuum, but it does not consume matter around it, so while it may look like a black hole, it doesn't have the real physics of a black hole.

Boomstick: Real or not, Gabranth is a guy who definitely delivers, Gabranth successfully completed many missions for his Empire, killing the likes of King Raminas and one of his loyal servants Reks, easily became the most powerful Judge Magister of all-time, and was even summoned by the God of Discord, Chaos who was legitimately impressed with Gabranth's crimes, to fight in his battle.

Wiz: That being said, Gabranth had his own share of losses too, he was defeated by Princess Ashe's team twice, lost to Shantotto early on in the Conflict of the Gods and made mortal enemies with Vaan for killing his brother Reks, being defeating by Vaan three times.

Boomstick: And he actually has no means of healing himself either, he relies on his fellow Judge Zargabaath to heal him in battle, on his own, it's another story.

Wiz: Plus Gabranth is driven by rage and is mostly ruthless and cruel, while not a bad thing, he had been goaded by fellow warrior Garland, and his earnest and no-nonsense nature leads him to call other people "dogs", often sorely underestimating their worth in combat.

Boomstick: Hey, if I can have that much power and magic, I think I could afford to be a little arrogant and pissed off at times, especially if I can use that power to vanquish my enemies INTO OBLIVION!!!!

Wiz: Well, have it your way Boomstick.

Gabranth: I am Judge Magister. Even in disgrace. My just reward for aiding the empire that destroyed my homeland.

DEATH BATTLE![]

The Royal Palace of Rabanastre - Consul's Chambers

Archadia, an empire governed by its powerful politics had its powerful leaders, and with their twelfth emperor at the helm, all of their enemies would fall in one swift strike, so naturally, the emperor was in his chambers, observing his people from the window he looked from, "...I tell you, this country obstinancy knows no bounds." This was Archadia's twelfth emperor, Vayne Solidor, and he was not too pleased with the apparent situation with his country's status.

Vayne was accompanied by an Archadian Judge, and this was his best judge, the judge who the most loyal to him, as well as his most successful at missions assigned to him, "They appear to be operating on their own at present, though if they garner any external support, the situation could worsen." Dealing in his report from his assignment was the Archadian Judge, Gabranth, standing up tall and with his no sign of slouching or looseness on him, Gabranth continued on, "Though it seems they appear to be conspicuously well-funded, and I think I know the one behind this.

Vayne turned around and made a slow walk towards his chair, which was accompanied by a table fit for an emperor, which was opposite Gabranth, "Your insight is moving, however, we do have another situation that needs to be seen to." Vayne sat down on his chair as Gabranth was taken a bit by the sudden change of conversation, for whatever this new topic could be, it must be as nearly as significant as something Gabranth had set his mind on.

"My Lord?" Gabranth paid extra special attention, this new topic could result in another mission for him, "It seems that in a far off country, travellers from that location have found their governing body to be rather lacking in his position." Vayne pulled a frame out of his side pocket, and presented it to Gabranth on the table, Gabranth looked down on the table and took in this new face, "This is Ashnard, King of the country of Daein, it's far from here, but it appears Ashnard's ruling is not supported by Daein's neighbouring countries, see to it he is either killed or reigned in."

Gabranth inspected the paper further, seeing the man known as Ashnard standing aside a Dragon, this was a definite sign he was a ruler with an iron fist, and Gabranth looked back towards Vayne, "He will die by my hand", Vayne's face lighted up with a joy that Gabranth had taken on another mission, "You will find Daein is many days away from here, you best prepare accordingly, and this is a personal mission solely for you, we would not like for it to appear as a political 'adjustment'."

Gabranth took ownership of the paper and stored it away for safekeeping, Vayne sat back in his chair, "Now I’m expecting Doctor Cid, you may leave, Gabranth", the Archadian Judge turned around and walked out of the Consul's Chamber, where his new mission awaited him.

Nevassa Castle - Throne Room

(Cue Burning Ambition - Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance)

Several Days later, in the Daein capital of Nevassa, the Mad King Ashnard sat comfortably in his throne as he watched on, thinking about the powerful country he commanded, he heard the doors open from his distant throne, as the doors opened a dark figure pierced through the light as the doors closed behind him, the man approached Ashnard, as bowed before him, "Why are you here? You were leading the invasion of Gallia, were you not?" Ashnard almost scolded his servant, but all the same, his servant, The Black Knight looked up at Ashnard to deliver the news.

"A man from beyond the shores of Tellius has come, and witnesses account that he's coming to assassinate you, you were best to know this information before he finds you." The Black Knight stood up and waited for Ashnard's response, "So, this man wishes to create yet another hindrance as Gawain once did? Well, as Gawain's killer, you will confront him if he approaches these walls." Ashnard's words carried strength and no sign of weakness, let alone any restraint or holding back.

"But do not go searching for him now, We will wait and watch until such time as we can strike." The Black Knight remained silent for the moment in between sentences, he knew that either way, this man would fight either Ashnard or himself, both realities of which Zelgius had come to accept, "In the interim, you will be temporarily relieved of your duties in Gallia, you shall take charge guarding Nevassa Castle, especially if our hindrance shows himself, Be smart, You must not allow him to bring his full might to bear. Understood?"

The Black Knight remained unmoved, but he nevertheless accepted the terms of his new mission, "As you will...", the armored servant of Ashnard then took his leave, as the Mad King sat comfortably back in his throne as his mind swam with the thought of fighting someone far more powerful than any mercenary or general could throw at him, the dominance of his country couldn't be rivalled, so an opponent from beyond the seas would be a turn of events he could relish, he dwelled on that thought for quite some time.

Nevassa - Outskirts

That very night, under watchful eyes, the forces of Daein's military watched all of their corners, keeping an eye open for this armored assailant in the night, the guards took regular shifts, alternating between their finest men, the Black Knight himself watched from a distance, overseeing the operation as the rest of the capital slept, suddenly, one of the guards heard a noise, and a group of them collectively got up and ran after the noise, the Black Knight watched carefully, from his point of view, he could see it all, however, what the guards could not see was something else entirely.

Two of the guards remained stationary, but suddenly both of them were impaled in their backs, both of their bodies dropped onto the ground, the Black Knight had seen enough, he ran from his post and rushed to the scene of the event, with no one noticing him, Gabranth continued his way to the entrance of the city, Gabranth had kept the guards on a search for shadows at this point, with no direct opposition, the Archadian Judge set his sights on the entrance, and with meters of his destination, a man came out from the shadows, sword unsheathed and his presence revealed to Gabranth.

(Cue The Black Knight - Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance)

The Black Knight approached Gabranth as the moonlight shined over what would become their battlefield, "So, you are the one who's out for Ashnard's head, you did not do well to conceal yourself." the Black Knight looked over Gabranth, noting his armor and his double-bladed weapon, of which both ends were coated with blood.

"And you must be his lapdog, doing his bidding when he demands it, but you shall be purged by my blade!" Gabranth held his dual-bladed weapon in a fighting stance, but the Black Knight did not move a muscle nor fibre of his body, he simply responded, "Hah... You think so? Let us test your stronger arm, then. Come, armored invader... show me your strength!" The Black Knight held out Alondite as he awaited Gabranth's first actions, but Gabranth had more to say, "Very well, I am the Judge Magister, as Hell's Watchdog, I shall judge whether or not your life is worth LIVING!!"

Gabranth detached the two blades at their hilts and held then in his dual-blade fighting stance, the Black Knight firmly gripped Alondite as the moon illuminated their battlefield further.

FIGHT!

(Cue Against the Black Knight - Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance)

The two armored men ran at each other, Gabranth attacked first, slashing his dual swords at the Black Knight in quick succession, the Black Knight met his swings head-on, blocking them with Alondite, matching the larger blade head-on, and batting away the smaller blade Gabranth wielded, the two met in a deadlock of swords, both looking at each other through the slits of their helmets, both men broke off the clash and Gabranth jumped back into the air to give him some distance between himself and the Black Knight.

As Gabranth landed, there he was, the Black Knight was right in front of him, swinging his mighty sword in an overhead swing, much to his surprise and shock on just short notice, Gabranth quickly raised his long blade and blocked Alondite, using this opportunity, Gabranth used his second shorter blade and went for a slash against the Black Knight's torso, but the blade did not cut through his armor, the Black Knight noticed this and as if he were bashing a hammer onto a nail, he hammered on Gabranth's defences before he had an opening where he could strike, with another sword cleave, he went for a thrusting strike against the Archadian Judge.

But Gabranth made another jump in the air, avoiding the stab altogether, now in the air, Gabranth took a second to observe the Black Knight before landing, the Black Knight chose not to approach him this time, instead, he kept his distance to which he usually would be in a traditional encounter, the Black Knight shined white for a second, activating Nihil, he slowly approached Gabranth, but Gabranth had other ideas, he rushed towards the Black Knight and once again attempted to unleash a physical assault of sword strength, however, the Black Knight blocked them once again and on one of his swings, Gabranth's attack was halted by the Black Knight, who pushed him back with his might.

Gabranth started recognising this foe as a legitimate threat, he had matched his blows and could fend him off, Gabranth clipped his two swords at their hilts, forming his large dual-bladed weapon, with this he re-engaged with the Black Knight, the two men continued to trade blades, Gabranth's adjustment making the clashes more direct, the Black Knight still put up a strong defence, keeping Alondite up to par with Gabranth's attached weapons, Gabranth used his dual-bladed weapon and thrust it forward in a charging motion, knocking the Black Knight off guard and unbalancing him, Gabranth quickly detached the two blades and went for a stabbing strike with both of his blades.

But the Black Knight quickly regained his footing, and evaded the stabs, before delivering another shove on Gabranth, which caused him to almost drop onto the ground, but the Judge turned around, "So, you stand your ground." Gabranth was intrigued by the performance the Black Knight, but the Knight responded in kind, "How...entertaining. But if you value your life, you will leave this place at once."

Gabranth unclipped his two swords from their hilts and once again gave words to the Black Knight "Only death shall pardon me from my sword.", beneath that helmet, Zelgius smiled, but then gripped Alondite tightly, "...Enough talk. Prepare yourself"

The Black Knight remained stationary as he swung his sword once again, it left a red trail behind as it swung, the slash formed an energy slash projectile, Gabranth quickly sidestepped the incoming projectile, Gabranth then readied his blades, "Destruction!" Gabranth holds his two blades and then slashes them in quick succession, firing four enormous energy blades, the energy blades arc downward, all of them arcing down towards the Black Knight, who has no choice but to evade, but he is caught in one of the blades, striking him on the side, damaging his left arm's armor, he took a moment to inspect his arm, identifying that only the armor had been damaged, had he of not moved sooner, he might've lost his forearm.

(Cue Esper Battle - Final Fantasy XII)

Gabranth rushed at the chance of opportunity and went for several slashes at the Black Knight, striking at him, but his attacks and swings left a resounding “CLANK” kind of sound each time Gabranth hit his foe, the Black Knight's armor remained unaffected, on that moment, the Black Knight used his Shove skill again, pushing Gabranth away once again, the Archadian Judge was once again shocked to see the display strength being pushed against him, the Black Knight once again unleashed a slash projectile, firing it at Gabranth, the Archadian Judge quickly launched his own slashing projectiles, four versus one, and the four won out, forcing the Black Knight to once again evade, though this time, he evaded without much issue, knowing these projectiles can harm him, the Black Knight quickly rushed over to Gabranth and went for another overhead slash, Gabranth once again met the swing head-on.

The Black Knight started delivering more powerful swings while pacing himself forward, Gabranth backed up, refusing to let another shove push him back further, but Gabranth's ruthless nature kept him going, he blocked his blows before he found another opening, Gabranth clipped his two swords together, he then quickly struck the Black Knight once, then hit him two more times and knocked him away, to the same extent as the attacks that knocked him back.

Gabranth then swung his swords in a circular motion, like the propellors on a helicopter, and sure enough, he made a cyclone form right in front of him, "Let me see you suffer!" The cyclone continued to spiral towards the Black Knight, while the Black Knight attempted to swing his sword with enough force to avert the cyclone, he failed, and he was caught inside the epicentre of the cyclone, expecting himself to be launched into the air, the Black Knight quickly realised this tornado wasn't as lethal as a real one in a natural disaster, and it soon dispersed, coming back to, the Black Knight noticed Gabranth was right in front of him, Gabranth charged forward and assaulted the Black Knight with a combo of sword slashes, "Retribution's blade. You will be judged!" Gabranth unleashed a final slash, almost launching the Black Knight, "I'll cleave you!"

The Black Knight stood back up and inspected his surroundings and armor, only minor cuts to the armor, nothing to worry about, the Black Knight activated his Imbue skill, which slowly restored him back to top condition, Gabranth notices this and made a slow approach to the Black Knight, "I have nothing to lose Knight, now come!" Taking the opportunity, the Black Knight rushed back into battle where he once again met Gabranth for a lock of swords.

Gabranth quickly attached the two hilts of his sword, and begun spinning in circles quickly, forming the Vortex of Judgment, as he spun, the force of the pull was enough to draw in the Black Knight, slowly, but surely, "You have no hope!", finally, the Black Knight was drawn into the vortex, where he was met by the blades of Gabranth's sword hitting him like helicopter blades, striking his torso armor, finally, on Gabranth's last swing, he directly the force directly onto the Black Knight, launching him skyward, "Away you go!" with the Black Knight now airborne, Gabranth followed him into the air, Gabranth took advantage of this and slashed the Black Knight downward, sending him directly into the ground.

The Black Knight hit the ground hard, he had not experienced this kind of battle before, and it was both alarming and exhilarating, Gabranth landed on the ground and held his blade towards the downed Black Knight, "You are outmatched, dog" Gabranth approached the Black Knight's body, the Black Knight was slowly regaining his footing, Gabranth would not allow him the recovery, so Gabranth rushed and attempted to stab him, but suddenly the Black Knight vanished, Gabranth looked on in shock.

(Cue Armored Titan Theme - Attack on Titan)

Gabranth looked around and noticed the Black Knight was not close by, he clipped his two hilts together once again, and readied himself for an incoming surprise attack, in case his foe was as low enough to attempt a surprise attack, he checked his surroundings, but did not see him anywhere, but to his surprise, he saw a blinding light appear from behind him, he turned around, but his vision was obscured by that blinding light.

To his surprise, it was the Black Knight, and he had just activated Eclipse, "Let's see how you handle this?", he performed an overhead swing, the light prevented Gabranth from seeing the incoming attack, striking Gabranth directly, the Black Knight struck his foe's shoulder, with the second strike, he struck the torso, cutting through the armor, the third strike hit his forearm, causing him to drop his weapon, the fourth hit saw the Black Knight strike Gabranth on the leg, and on his fifth and final strike, the Black Knight performed an upward strike on Gabranth's helmet, knocking him into the ground and cutting his helmet in the process.

The Black Knight looked down at his opponent, who was now bleeding, as well as pieces of his armor severely damaged, "You are admirable, Judge, however, you passed up the opportunity to walk away with your life, and so you will expire here, by my very sword" The Black Knight raised his sword one more time, aiming and position his sword to the armor-free section of his armor, which was where his neck resided. As the Black Knight readied his swing, Gabranth looked up to see the Black Knight, with his helmet damaged, he could see his foe with his own eye, with his wounds affecting him, Gabranth slowly stood up and instead of attacking immediately, he removed his helmet and threw it on the ground, revealing his true face, the Black Knight stopped his attack for a second, waiting for Gabranth to speak.

"This is... not my time to die" The Black Knight quickly attempted to end Gabranth as fast as he could, but suddenly, Gabranth picked up his sword, he quickly conjured a sphere around himself, as the Black Knight approached Gabranth to send a wave of energy in all directions with a large blast radius, striking the Black Knight away "Eternal Pain!"

Gabranth then performer a 360° spin, hitting the Black Knight with his connected swords, "By my sword!", Gabranth's hands then glowed with dark energy, he stretched out his two hands and launched a beam of dark energy towards the Black Knight, "Know this pain!".

Continuing his assault, Gabranth's hands glowed with similar energy, but it was yellowish rather than black, he then performed a series of long-range punches, which struck the Black Knight without somehow requiring physical contact, which knocked the Black Knight of his weapon and left him vulnerable, "Take your last breath!"

Gabranth, with his weapon now on his back, holds his arms outward, but not stretched out, dozens of ethereal swords appeared beside him, all of them travelled to, and impaled the Black Knight with their numbers making it impossible for the Black Knight to move, with all this completed, Gabranth formed purple black hole energy around the Black Knight, "Surrender now to oblivion!!"

The Black Knight was trapped within the energy, and upon Gabranth's command, the energy was unleashed and the Black Knight was sent into the air by the force of it, Gabranth ended the black hole as he turned around, still injured by the previous attacks, the Black Knight hit the ground, almost lifeless at this point, his armor was damage absolutely everywhere and he was bleeding out as much as Gabranth was, but even with death knocking at his door, the Black Knight removed his helmet and revealed the true face of the Black Knight, Zelgius.

"Impressive... most impressive" Zelgius was more than impressed with the display of power Gabranth had shown him, just barely managing to stand on his knees, Gabranth faintly walked towards Zelgius who was also essentially dying at this point, Gabranth pulled out the shorter end of his two swords and held the sword at the ready, Zelgius closed his eyes and accepted the inevitability of his fate, "Neither of us can protect what we hold most dear..." Gabranth spoke this words as he felt no pain, nor sorrow, he watched Zelgius surrender himself to fate, Gabranth finally ended it, he impaled his short sword directly into Zelgius's heart, Gabranth pulled the sword out soon after, Zelgius used the last fibres of his existence to look Gabranth in the eyes, warrior to warrior, man to man, he tried to speak, but his lungs could not give him the oxygen he needed, thus he fell bodily onto the ground Alondite planted firmly next to him, his helmet inches from his fingertips, Gabranth noticed there was an item in Zelgius's pocket, it was a Concoction, he took the item and inspected it, claiming it as his own, which would become his saving grace.

K.O.!

Conclusion[]

(Cue Theme of the Empire - Final Fantasy XII)

Boomstick: Man, these fights are getting a bit emotional at the end.

Wiz: All the same, Zelgius and Gabranth are two individuals who faced the reality of putting their true names and motives away to serve a greater cause, which they both displayed truly until their deaths.

Boomstick: While they both displayed impressive amounts of strength, Gabranth had a lot more going for him, with his greater experience, superior strength and specifically his magic trumping the Black Knight almost effortlessly.

Wiz: However with the Black Knight's skills such as Nihil and Eclipse, he was able to negate Gabranth's battle skills and defences, keeping the battle a sword fight for the most part, and thanks to the blessing on his armor, the Black Knight could basically withstand most sword attacks that came his way.

Boomstick: However, that armor doesn't have any form of resistance to magic, since it was only ever stated it was resistant to weapons, which was exploited thanks to Gabranth's Quickenings, which was effective enough to harm The Undying.

Wiz: With his Imbue skill healing him where Gabranth could not, The Black Knight could effectively heal from his wounds so long as he could continue to fight, which against Gabranth, he could do, but only for so long.

Boomstick: Those surprising speeds thanks to his heritage was certainly capable of keeping Gabranth surprised, however, speed alone doesn't do it.

Wiz: And with Gabranth's overwhelming advantages, they were certainly more than enough to push back the Black Knight and overwhelm him once the battle moved past a simple sword fight.

Boomstick: Well, looks like Zelgius has been judged.

Winner - Gabranth

Wiz: The winner is Gabranth.

Trivia[]

  • The Armored Titan Theme song choice was inspired by a YouTube video uploaded by MasterEnex, in which during the preview video the Black Knight fought his master while the song played in the background, however that scene was not present in the final video.
