This page lists information on the various different Staff Positions defined on the Death Battle Fanon Wiki.

Ranks are placed from low to high. Exceptions on these requirements are doable depending on the context.

This will not affect users that already have any of these rights.

Terminology

Rollback

Abilities:

  • The power to revert all changes made in a row by one same user in one click
  • The power to Ajax Undo and Ajax Rename

Requirements:

  • At least 750 edits in main content area
  • Must've been on the wiki for at least 2 months
  • Must've gained the trust of the community (e.g. no warnigs of unacceptable behaviour. Accidents are understandable)
  • Must've aided in reverting spam/vandalism at least twice
  • Must've gone out of their way to point a user at their wrongdoing outside of the chatroom (i.e. the user must've misbehaved outside of the chatroom and the user must contact them through their Wall or in a comment)
  • Must've made efforts to assist users and socialize with them
  • Must've reported to the Rule Violation Report at least periodically

Chat Moderator

Abilities:

  • The power to kick others from chat until they re-enter and ban them for extended time
  • Sending inline announcements

Requirements:

  • At least 500 edits in main content area
  • Must've been on the wiki for at least 2 months
  • Must be in chat quite often
  • Must've gained the trust of the chat users
  • Must've went out of their way to point a user at their wrongdoing inside of the chatroom regarding something pertaining to the chat
  • Must've gained the trust of the community (e.g. no warnigs of unacceptable behaviour. Accidents are understandable)

Superintendent

Our custom name for the combination of the Rollback and Chat Moderator ranks.

Abilities:

  • All Rollback and Chat Moderator abilities

Requirements:

  • All Rollback and Chat Moderator requirements (some lightly changed)
  • At least 1,000 edits in main content area
  • Must've been on the wiki for at least 3 months
  • Must've gained the trust of the community (e.g. no warnigs of unacceptable behaviour. Accidents are understandable)

Discussions Moderator

Abilities:

  • All Chat Moderator abilities
  • Removing and restoring threads and replies from any user
  • Closing and reopening threads
  • Managing Forum boards, moving threads from one board to another, and highlighting and un-highlighting threads.
  • Moderating chat
  • Deleting blog comments
  • Editing and deleting article comments

Requirements:'

  • At least 1,250 edits in main content area
  • Must've been on the wiki for at least 3 months
  • Must regularly hang out on the Forum and Chatroom
  • Must've stepped into a conversation at least once to point a user on their misbehaviour
  • Must've gained the trust of the community (e.g. no warnigs of unacceptable behaviour. Accidents are understandable)
  • Must've made efforts to assist users and socialize with them
  • Must've reported to the Rule Violation Report at least periodically

Superordinate

Our custom name for a combination of the Discussions Moderator and Rollback (and by extension, potentially Chat Moderator) rights.

Abilities:

  • All Rollback, Chat Moderator and Discussions Moderator abilities

Requirements:

  • At least 1,500 edits in main content area
  • Must've been on the wiki for at least 4 months
  • Must regularly hang out on the Forum and Chatroom
  • Must've stepped into a conversation at least twice to point a user on their misbehaviour
  • Must've gained the trust of the community (e.g. no warnigs of unacceptable behaviour. Accidents are understandable)
  • Must've aided in reverting spam/vandalism at least thrice
  • Must've made efforts to assist users and socialize with them
  • Must've reported to the Rule Violation Report at least periodically

Content Moderator

Abilities:

  • Deleting and moving protected pages
  • Deleting and moving files
  • Undeleting pages and files
  • All Rollback abilities
  • Re-upload files
  • Protecting and unprotecting pages
  • Patrolling pages if the community has the RecentChanges patrol feature enabled

Requirements:

  • At least 1,750 edits in main content area
  • Must've been on the wiki for at least 4 months
  • Must've stepped into a conversation at least twice to point a user on their misbehaviour
  • Must've gained the trust of the community (e.g. no warnigs of unacceptable behaviour. Accidents are understandable)
  • Must've aided in reverting spam/vandalism at least thrice
  • Must've made efforts to assist users and socialize with them
  • Must've reported to the Rule Violation Report at least periodically

Operator

Our custom name for a combination of the Content Moderator and Chat Moderator ranks.

Abilities:

  • All Chat Moderator abilities
  • All Content Moderator abilities

Requirements:

  • At least 2,000 edits in main content area
  • Must've been on the wiki for at least 5 months
  • Must've stepped into a conversation at least four times to point a user on their misbehaviour
  • Must've gained the trust of the community (e.g. no warnigs of unacceptable behaviour. Accidents are understandable)
  • Must've aided in reverting spam/vandalism at least five times
  • Must be in chat quite often
  • Must've made efforts to assist users and socialize with them
  • Must've reported to the Rule Violation Report at least periodically

Moderator

A general name for all three Moderator ranks (and thereby also the Rollback rank, which may be additionally given) all in one; a user who is simultaneously a Chat, Discussions and Content Moderator is therefore a Moderator.

Abilities:

  • All Content Moderator abilities
  • All Discussions Moderator abilities
    • All Chat Moderator abilities

Requirements:

  • At least 2,250 edits in main content area
  • Must've been on the wiki for at least 6 months
  • Must've stepped into a conversation at least six times to point a user on their misbehaviour
  • Must've gained the trust of the community (e.g. no warnigs of unacceptable behaviour. Accidents are understandable)
  • Must've aided in reverting spam/vandalism at least seven times
  • Must be in chat quite often
  • Must've made efforts to assist users and socialize with them

Admin

Also known fully as the Administrator and sometimes referred to as a System Operator or Sysop.

Abilities:

  • All Content Moderator abilities
  • All Discussions Moderator abilities
    • All Chat Moderator abilities
  • The power to edit whitelisted MediaWiki pages
    • The ability to edit code pages (.css, .js)
  • Using the Theme Designer
  • Setting Wiki Features
  • Blocking and unblocking users
  • Granting and revoking Chat Moderator and Discussions Moderator rights

Requirements:

  • At least 2,500 edits in main content area
  • Must've been on the wiki for at least 7 months
  • Must've stepped into a conversation at least seven times to point a user on their misbehaviour
  • Must've gained the trust of the community (e.g. no warnigs of unacceptable behaviour. Accidents are understandable)
  • Must've aided in reverting spam/vandalism at least nine times
  • Must've made efforts to assist users and socialize with them
  • Must've reported to the Rule Violation Report at least periodically

Bureaucrat

Please note that while it IS possible to become a bureaucrat, this will not commonly happen. Most of the time, requests for bureaucrat rights will be declined. Exceptions are not out of the question, but very uncommon.

Abilities:

  • Manipulating and freely altering user rights (able to hand out Chat, Content and Discussions Moderator, Rollback, Admin and Bureaucrat rights)
  • Unblocking themselves
  • All Admin abilities

Requirements:

  • At least 3,000 edits in main content area
  • Must've been on the wiki for at least a full year
  • Must've stepped into a conversation at least ten times to point a user on their misbehaviour
  • Must've gained the trust of the community (e.g. no warnigs of unacceptable behaviour. Accidents are understandable)
  • Must've aided in reverting spam/vandalism at least twelve times
  • Must've made efforts to assist users and socialize with them

Deputy Head Bureaucrat

Please note that it is currently IMPOSSIBLE for a normal user to achieve this position even if they meet all the requirements for it, the only way to achieve this position is if you are offered it by the current Head Bureaucrat.

Abilities and Responsibilities:

  • All Admin and Bureaucrat Abilities
  • Monitoring the contributions of all lower ranking staff positions apart from Admins and Bureaucrats in order to make sure they are fulfilling their duties as staff members

Requirements:

  • At least 3,500 edits in main content area
  • Must've been on the wiki for at least 16 months.
  • Must've stepped into a conversation at least twelve times to point a user on their misbehaviour
  • Must've gained the trust of the community (e.g. no warnigs of unacceptable behaviour. Accidents are understandable)
  • Must've aided in reverting spam/vandalism at least fifteen times
  • Must've made efforts to assist users and socialize with them

Head Bureaucrat Heir Apparent

Please note that it is currently IMPOSSIBLE for a normal user to achieve this position even if they meet all the requirements for it, the only way to achieve this position is if you are offered it by the current Head Bureaucrat.

Abilities and Responsibilities:

  • All Admin and Bureaucrat Abilities
  • Learning how to run the site effectively through the advice of the current Head Bureaucract

Requirements:

  • At least 3,750 edits in main content area
  • They must be chosen for a legitimate reason (ex. Several years of experience as a staff member, a particularly mature and levelheaded attitude or a considerable amount of experience dealing with trolls) and NOT simply because they simply get on well with the current Head Bureaucrat.
  • Must've been on the wiki for at least 17 months.
  • Must've stepped into a conversation at least twelve times to point a user on their misbehaviour
  • Must've gained the trust of the community (e.g. no warnigs of unacceptable behaviour. Accidents are understandable)
  • Must've aided in reverting spam/vandalism at least fifteen times
  • Must've made efforts to assist users and socialize with them

Head Bureaucrat

Please note that it is currently IMPOSSIBLE for a normal user to achieve this position even if they meet all the requirements for it, the only way to achieve this position is if you are offered it by the current Head Bureaucrat before they retire.

Abilities and Responsibilities:

  • All Admin and Bureaucrat Abilities
  • Leading the community and answering any questions wiki users may have about the site
  • Giving fellow staff members advice on how to deal with users who have violated the Rules and Guidelines when they need it
  • Contacting FANDOM Staff about any major troll problems or technical issues on the wiki (though other staff members and regular users can do this as well if instructed by the Head Bureaucrat or feel that it is necessary for them to contact them themselves)
  • Monitoring the contributions of the Admins and Bureaucrats in order to make sure they are fulfilling their duties as staff members

Requirements:

  • At least 4,000 edits in main content area
  • Ideally should have been named Head Bureaucrat Heir Apparent by the previous Head Bureaucrat
  • Must've been on the wiki for at least 18 months
  • Must've stepped into a conversation at least eighteen times to point a user on their misbehaviour
  • Must've gained the trust of the community (e.g. no warnigs of unacceptable behaviour. Accidents are understandable)
  • Must've aided in reverting spam/vandalism at least twenty times
  • Must've made efforts to assist users and socialize with them

How many Staff?

Obviously, we have to set a limit on how many users may become mods, ops and the like. Please note that these numbers are not final nor absolute; this is merely what we are striving for. They may be subject to change and exceptions are very well possible.

  • Bureaucrats: 5 (absolutely no more unless really needed)
  • Admins: 6
  • Moderators: 3
  • Operators: 2
  • Content Moderators: 4
  • Superordinates: 2
  • Discussions Moderators: 4
  • Superintendents: 3
  • Chat Moderators: 5
  • Rollbacks: 5
