Criminals are a superstitious cowardly lot -- so I have to wear a disguise that will strike terror into their hearts! I must be a creature of the night, black, terrible, like a... a... a bat!
~ Bruce Wayne - Detective Comics #33 (September, 1939)

Without warning it comes... crashing through the window of your study... and mine... I have seen it before... somewhere ...it frightened me... as a boy... frightened me... yes, Father. I shall become a bat.
~ Bruce Wayne - Batman #404 (February, 1987)

No! God Almighty, no. It'd be too damned easy. All I've ever wanted to do is kill him. A day doesn't go by when I don't think about subjecting him to every horrendous torture he's dealt out to others, and then... [glares at Joker] end him....But..if I do that... if I allow myself to go down into that place... I'll never come back.
~ Batman (Bruce Wayne) -Batman: Under the Red Hood

You can never escape me. Bullets don't harm me. Nothing harms me. But I know pain. I know pain. Sometimes I share it. With someone like you.
~ Batman (Bruce Wayne) - Batman #407 (May, 1987)

I don't care how many demons he's fought in how many hells. He's never fought us. Not us united.
~ Batman in Zack Snyder's Justice League

Bat Exo-Suit[]

12365933 972834219457672 494602726406190890 o

An exo-suit that Batman developed to not only fight Superman on equal footing but also to compensate for the physical limitations that came with his aging.

Normally paired with a kryptonite weapon, like kryptonite gas launcher and kryptonite spear.

In its original appearance, it was still taken apart relatively easily, even while Superman had restraint. But Batman merely used the armor to prolong the duel long enough for Green Arrow to ambush Superman with a kryptonite arrow.

Batman possesses other similar armors but rarely uses them except when engaging against abnormally powerful enemies. Most of these armors have been used only once or were destroyed. [3]

Justice Buster[]

A gigantic mech-suit equipped with contingency plans for the Justice League should they have to battle. It is more expensive than 60% of the world's national military budgets. Suit contains:

  • A targeting system that can map the Flash's movements (unless he runs at maximum speed), a frictionless coating
  • A bind of veils that shows opponents lies (Wonder Woman)
  • A kryptonite-laced pellet, plasma shields to deflect heat vision, knuckles with microscopic red suns (Superman)
  • A magnesium carbonate coating that absorbs all moisture (Aquaman)
  • A citrine neutralizer that weakens willpower (Green Lantern)
  • An electromagnetic nerve tree (EMP attack) (Cyborg)

Bat God[]

  • Batman became one of the New Gods; He is the God of Knowledge.
  • Has access to unlimited knowledge
  • It's Batman, but God. Need any more be said?

Hellbat Armor[]

  • Allows Batman to have increased physical abilities, but drains his Metabolism, and can kill him if used to much.
  • Shifting Nano-Kinetic Metallic composition armor, which could be shed and re-adorned to his person on command via voice activated computer A.I, with a built-in cloaking feature giving him total invisibility.
  • The armor's cape transforms into a pair of wings for flight, the substance of which comprises of the same supposed nano-particle mesh of the suit.
  • Enabling the Hellbat mantel to change shape and semblance diving into living bodies and putting off the inner ear, liquefy and reform around enemies to flail/bash them around, use them as shields for defense or stone cutting armaments for offence. As well as the ability to transfer all power to the chest insignia port, the latter of which can be used to send out a powerful blast of energy.
  • However, the wings were torn off by Darkseid during Batman's battle with him over his son's corpse, but were quickly reformed when dispersed into a swarm of bats then quickly reintegrated into the suit.
  • He can eject select elements of the armor in order to prolong his life within it with voice commands, such as the helmet and the gloves.
  • The armor was later reconstructed and was placed in a secondary Batcave on Earth's Moon, where New Earth's Lois Lane used it to defend her son Jon Kent from Eradicator.
  • Even after having discarded Bruce's armor, Lois kept a glove piece of the armor in case of special emergencies. Which are revealed to potentially be powerful energy casters strong enough to momentarily topple the likes of Frankenstein with a single blast.

Plans and Prep Time[]

  • Other than Lex Luthor; owns more Kryptonite (of multiple colors) than any other human on Earth.
    • This includes an artificial Red Kryptonite that overloads Superman's powers by making his skin transparent; making him absorb too much sunlight.
  • Created nanobots to brainwash Wonder Woman into fighting until exhaustion.
    • Also owns magical artifacts designed to weaken Amazonians
  • Created artificial red sunlight or mini suns to fight Superman.
  • Painted an entire room (including himself) yellow to be immune to Green Lantern. [11]
  • Created a poison that makes Martian Manhunter's skin flammable (by covering the skin with magnesium); exploiting his weakness to fire even when he's underwater.
  • Liquid-nitrogen to shatter Plastic Man.
  • Modifying Fear Toxin to make characters reject, avoid or fear whatever fuels them (making Green Lantern lose his willpower or Aquaman fear water)
  • 'Vibration bullet' that gives Flash seizures to counter his vibrations.
  • A bomb that staples onto Flash and detonates if he slows down (making him eventually die of exhaustion, in theory).
  • Successfully created and shot Darkseid with a gun of Radion bullets (the New God equivalent to kryptonite)
  • Batman even deduced how to defeat himself; exploit Batman's obsession and trauma regarding his parents.
  • Has multiple counter-measures and defenses for the Bat Cave
    • Erased evidence of the Bat Caves existence on every single geological survey from the past 200 years
    • Has barriers, disruptors, and supernatural barricades set up to prevent all teleporters from entering the Bat Cave
    • Bat Cave has shields for psychic energy attacks
    • The Bat Cave is lined with lead to prevent users with X-ray vision from seeing through
  • Studied and reversed engineered the tech of every single suit enhanced villain in the JL Database

        • *Scarecrow himself says that Batman is the only one who makes him feel fear, something not even a Black Lantern could accomplish, and only pursues Batman so he can feel fear again
        • *Despite having a reputation of breaking the Bat, Bane was forced to make his cowl of Batman to put fear into criminals during Batman's absence

Feats of Dark Multiverse Batman[]

  • The Batman who Laughs was able to kill the Justice League and everybody that stood against him in his world.
  • Like Batman, the Devastator was able to defeat and kill the Superman of Earth -1.
  • Like Batman, the Dawnbreaker was able to defeat and kill the Green Lantern Corps of Earth -32.
  • As Batman the Red Death, he was able to kill his rogue’s gallery of Earth -52, capture the Flash of Earth -52 and presumably kill his Flash’s rogues gallery.
  • Like Batman, the Murder Machine was able to defeat the Justice League of Earth -44 and kill Cyborg.
  • Like Batman, the Drowned he was able to kill every land superhero and also Aquawoman

Flaws[]

  • Same weakness as any mortal man
  • Has no superpowers and is still 100% human
  • Armor is lightweight and so has clear limitations.
    • Armor cannot stop high caliber gunfire or large knives
  • The majority of his weapons are specifically designed to be non-lethal.
  • Has to be rescued more than any other Justice League member
  • He admits that his endless crusade to protect the innocent can be used against him, such as taking hostages especially those close to him
  • Possible Psychopath?

    • Potential pedophile? (looking at you Robin and Batgirl)
    • Overly obsessive with "Bat Themes."
    • Becomes aggressive and bloodthirsty when he gains superpowers.
    • Is inconsistent with his "no killing" rule and recently with his 'no guns' rule.
      • Golden-Age Batman was incredibly violent; in his first appearance, he punched Alfred Stryker into a tank of acid with no regrets.
      • Even passed this on to Robin; in the Boy Wonder's first appearance, he used Batman's training to throw a man off a building
      • Has nearly killed Joker on multiple occasions.
      • Almost killed the Riddler had the Joker not intervened
      • Batman admits that allowing his villains to live probably is doing more harm than good.
      • Batman admits that his mental instability is so severe that he fears to turn into a Punisher-esque serial killer if he breaks his "no killing rule," as seen with the Dark Knights of the Dark Multiverse.
  • Some guilt over Jason Todd's apparent death and return as the Red Hood.
  • Won't kill somebody if their mom is named Martha, even if he's been training to kill them and making special weapons for a long time (not so much the name itself, but it goes to show just how deeply his parents' deaths affect him as his most exploitable weakness).
  • Shark Repellent doesn't work or apply in 99.99% of the situations that he's in.
  • Highly paranoid and distrustful of others even if they are allies.
    • Least trusted and trusting member of the Justice League; sometimes leaving the group entirely.
    • Creates contingency plans to take out members of the Justice League, his teammates
  • Too stubborn to allow allies to help him...which rarely ends well
  • For a time he was addicted to a drug that gave him super strength
  • Normally requires weakness exploitation or traps to defeat superhumans.
  • Was caught DWI [24]

Losses[]

  • His will was broken by Deacon Blackfire
  • Has frequently been cornered and sometimes defeated by Gotham villains; the majority of whom have little to no actual powers.
  • Nightwing beats the crap out of Batman to prove he's not his boy
  • Most other heroes that he has defeated were able to defeat Batman in other matchups.
    • Contrary to popular belief; Superman has defeated Batman the majority of the time. [25]
      • Superman destroyed the Justice Buster: despite the machine exploiting Superman's weakness to red sunlight radiation.
    • Wonder Women defeated him fair and square, and Batman even admits she's the better fighter
    • Defeated by Swamp Thing numerous times even when he had prep time
    • Hal Jordan one-shot Batman with a punch
    • Aquaman managed to chokehold Batman
    • He was tortured and murdered an endless number of times by the Joker as this was the Emperor Joker. [26]

Dark Knight (Frank Miller) (Earth-31)[]

You don't get it, boy... this isn't a mudhole... it's an operating table. And I'm the surgeon.
~ Batman to the Mutant Leader - Batman: The Dark Knight Returns #2 (April, 1986)

A gun is a coward's weapon. A liar's weapon. We kill too often because we've made it easy... too easy... sparing ourselves the mess and the work.
~ Batman to the Mutants - Batman: The Dark Knight Returns #3 (May, 1986)

My parents taught me a different lesson... lying on this street... shaking in deep shock... dying for no reason at all. They showed me that the world only makes sense when you force it to.
~ Batman to Superman - Batman: The Dark Knight Returns #4 (December, 1986)

You're beginning to get the idea, Clark. This...is the end. For both of us. We could have changed the world. Now...look at us. I've become...a political liability...and you...you're a joke. I want you...to remember, Clark...in all the years to come...in your most private moments...I want you to remember...my hand...at your throat. I want...you to remember...the one man who beat you.
~ Batman - Batman: The Dark Knight Returns #4 (December, 1986)

Without warning it comes... crashing through the window of your study... and mine... I have seen it before... somewhere ...it frightened me... as a boy... frightened me... yes, Father. I shall become a bat.
~ Bruce Wayne - Batman #404 (February, 1987)

Ladies. Gentlemen. You have eaten well. You've eaten Gotham's wealth. Its spirit. Your feast is nearly over. From this moment on...none of you are safe.
~ Batman - Batman #405 (March, 1987)

You can never escape me. Bullets don't harm me. Nothing harms me. But I know pain. I know pain. Sometimes I share it. With someone like you.
~ Batman - Batman #407 (May, 1987)

Bruce Wayne was born into being a billionaire since his father was a surgeon. One night, Bruce and his parents went into the wrong alleyway, conveniently named "Crime Alley." Bruce's parents were shot but the criminal sparred Bruce, so he trained himself to be the world's greatest detective. He also learned every fighting style there is. Bruce returned to Gotham and became the superhero, Batman. Batman got lots of villains such as The Joker, Two-Face, Riddler, and more. So Batman got a sidekick, Dick Grayson who became Robin. Injustice/The Regime[]

Gotham has fallen silent. The night is no longer broken by the sound of crime. Children are no longer woken by the sudden crack of a gunshot. There are no more cries in the darkness. No tires screech as wailing sirens chase desperate men and women through narrow streets. In a way, it is the Gotham I always dreamed of. But this is no dream. This is a perversion. This is a nightmare.
~ Bruce Wayne - Injustice: Gods Among Us #1 (January, 2013)

It always starts with one. That's how justification works. But once you justify something once, you can do it again and again. It becomes easier. Right and wrong blur.
~ Batman (Bruce Wayne) - Injustice: Gods Among Us #10 (March, 2013)

I'm not afraid of failure, son... I fear that your blind allegiance to Superman is my fault. I pushed you away and I shouldn't have. But I can promise you that I will do whatever I can to make it right. I just need you to choose what's right and join my side. Come back to me, son. Batman and Robin.
~ Batman (Bruce Wayne) to Robin (Damian Wayne) - Injustice: Gods Among Us: Year Four #14 (August, 2015)

You of all people know, Clark. I never quit.
~ Batman (Bruce Wayne) to Superman - Injustice 2 (May, 2017)

When Clark and I founded the Justice League, we didn't govern people. We protected them. Plain and simple. Maybe... the world could use a team like that again.

The Batman Who Laughs[]

I know I'm not exactly the Bruce you were hoping for. But I am Bruce. We all are. Let me remind you of a story we have in common. On my world, I developed ways to eliminate the Justice League... then they found out and were so disappointed in me. I betrayed their trust. It was a dark time for the League. But in all honesty... I was holding back. Now imagine if seven Bruce Waynes put their heads together... what horror they could be capable of. If they were to... say... develop separate murderous Batcaves meticulously designed with each of you in mind. So I hope you appreciate our work, because... you're going to die here. Ha. Ha. Ha.
~ The Batman Who Laughs to the Justice League - The Flash Vol. 3 #55 (October, 2017)

When I was Bruce Wayne, I thought that with enough preparation, I would always win. But I was wrong. I was trapped in an unwinnable war, refusing to see the obvious answers right in front of me. The answers that are so clear to me now with victory right around the corner. To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back. You see... a Batman who laughs... is a Batman who always wins. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
~ The Batman Who Laughs - The Batman Who Laughs #1 (November, 2017)

Stop. Just listen. You hear that? People think of birth as loud and death as silent. Things start with a bang, end with a whimper, but I'll tell you a secret. See, endings...endings are the loudest of all.

The Murder Machine[]

You were wrong, Vic. The best thing I ever did was let him in. I still remember the fear when they surrounded me. I realized quickly that my plan was not going to work. I would not be able to affect the program in time. And when they grabbed onto me, started to spread through my entire body, I was foolish enough to scream in fear. That was the first thing my father fixed in me. He took my ability to feel fear away, my ability to feel sadness. You know, to that point I had spent my life obsessing over my lost birth parents, ignoring the one who was there right in front of me. I was free of that as well. Next came my weak, human flesh. It was growing older and more brittle by the day.

I missed them. I couldn't take it anymore. I didn't want to be Bruce Wayne. I didn't want to be Green Lantern. Standing in front of a lantern ... but feeling submerged in shadow. Like I never left the cave under my mom and dad's house, with the darkness, and the bats. So I became ... Batman: The Dawnbreaker.

Vampire Batman from Earth-43[]

History: Bruce Wayne was the son of billionaire couple Thomas and Martha Wayne, and was forever changed after his parents were killed in an alleyway right in front of his eyes. After this traumatizing experience, he dedicated his life to wage war on the criminal empire, and spent the next decade physically and mentally improving himself to peak human perfection. Determined to strike fear into the hearts of criminals, he is inspired by a bat flying into the window and becomes the vigilante known as Batman, the defender of Gotham City.

In an alternate universe on DC Earth-43, everything was perfectly normal for Gotham City, until one night, when Bruce Wayne was investigating a string of cutthroat murders, only to eventually discover that the culprit wasn't exactly human. While Bruce was asleep, a vampire lady named Tanya came into his room and bit him. Tanya used to be one of Dracula's followers until she rebelled against him. Feats[]

  • Strong enough to smash through wood, lift a car and rip a storm gat out of cement effortlessly.
  • Avoided getting hit by crossbow & oak bolts.
  • Survived being impaled by an oak bolt, simply ripping it out.
  • Effortlessly tanked handgun bullets and a coffin getting smashed over his head, claiming that he felt no pain from them.
  • Defeated Dracula, tanking hits and dodging punches from the much stronger vampire.
  • Snapped the Joker's neck with a simple slap.
  • Hunted and defeated his rogues gallery, draining each of them of their blood and decapitated them, including Scarecrow.
  • Saved Commissioner Gordon from Two-Face & Killer Croc.
    • (-R.I.P. Alfred)
  • Mentally affected Martian Manhunter in The Brave & the Bold ("Shadow of the Bat!")

Weaknesses[]

  • Is weak to almost everything a vampire from legend is. These include...
    • Stake Through the Heart: While this will not kill Batman, this will immobilize him and place him into a coma-like state
    • Holy Water: Burns vampires like acid
    • Crosses: Will burn Batman should he get too close to them
    • Garlic (Sometimes)
    • Silver
    • Sunlight
    • Thirst for Blood: Can sometimes overpower him and turn him into a savage
      • Has shown to be able to restrain this urge to an extent, but it can still get to him
  • Vulnerable to decapitation, which will put him out for good.
