Lucario VS

Description[]

Pokémon VS Yo-Kai Watch, time for two of the most popular characters from both of these monster-collecting franchises to throwdown.

Interlude[]

Wiz: When travelling a world filled with monsters urging to battle, you're bound to come across some of the most highly skilled creatures the world has to offer. Lucario, the Aura Pokémon.

Boomstick: And Venoct, Yo-Kai Watch's mysterious wandering spirit. He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.

Wiz: And it's our job to analyse their weapons armour and skills to see who would win a Death Battle.

Lucario is Channeled to Death Battle[]

Wiz: The world is filled to the brim with pristine and powerful kinds of Pokémon, but none can claim to have the sheer tenacity and respect than that of Lucario. Born as the quaint Riolu, Lucario emerges once it perfects its skill, making it one of the most versatile of Pokémon.

Boomstick: Lucario are so popular, they are the standard for some of the most skilled trainers such as gym leaders like Mayleen and Korrina and other strong trainers such as Riley.

Wiz: Lucario are well respected for their incredible skill and prowess. It also possesses a diverse move-pool of attacks, such as Quick Attack, Bullet Punch, Power-Up Punch, Metal Claw, Force Palm, Bone Club, Extreme Speed and it’s two strongest moves, Meteor Mash and Close Combat. Of course, I would be making a fatal mistake if I did not mention it’s most prolific move, Aura Sphere, a powerful orb of Aura energy it launches towards opponents that never misses.

Boomstick: It’s also got some slick stat-boosters too, such as Swords Dance, Calm Mind, can even lower it’s opponents stats with Metal Sound and increase its evasion and create copies of himself with Double Team. It can also protect itself from attacks with moves such as Detect and its Foresight can allow it to reveal and hit intangible enemies.

Wiz: We haven’t even covered its most unique ability, Lucario’s Aura. Some specific Pokémon are able to sense, manipulate and channel Aura, an invisible energy said to surround everything. With Aura, Lucario can sense the location of other people and Pokémon, predict their movements and even fight like normal if they are blinded or with their eyes shut. Some very well trained Lucario are also able to use telepathy to communicate with people, something only legendary or very rare Pokémon have ever shown to be able to accomplish.

Boomstick: Lucario is a Steel and Fighting type Pokémon, a dynamic combo, giving it major offensive attacks which are strong against Rock, Steel and Fairy. Its typing also gives it strong resistance to Rock, Steel and Normal attacks while giving it standard resistance to flying, psychic and fairy type attacks, which would usually KO regular fighting types.

Wiz: While this next point may contradict the games, we've decided to include Lucario's strongest form, Mega Lucario. Again, while somewhat inconsistent with the game's main canon, Lucario in subsequent media, such as Pokken Tournament and the Mystery Dungeon games, has been shown to be able to access his mega form, something usually only achievable through the help of a trainer. This form gives it a huge boost of power in Strength, Durability and Speed.

Boomstick: Many Mega Lucario have been able to pull off amazing stuff, like Ash's Mega Lucario, which no-sold a direct attack from Gigantamax Machamp, which should have a big type advantage, defeated Cynthia's Garchomp and should be comparable to other Mega-Level Pokémon such as Alain's Mega Charizard, which went up against Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre.

Wiz: Many base-form Lucario, have gone on to achieve incredible feats. Sir Aaron’s Lucario was able to contend with the Regi Trio, who have both been able to contend with the Continent-Pulling Regigigas, can use its Aura Sphere to block a Hyper Beam and casually moved faster than the eye can see. Ash Ketchum’s Lucario took an attack from an unrestrained Mewtwo, was strong enough was able to contend with Externamax Eternamus, an enormous beast, who’s power threatened the entire island of Galar.

Boomstick: He has also been able to contend with Pikachu, who once destroyed an entire mountain island with a single thunderbolt and should also scale to Ash’s other aces such as Charizard, Infernape and Greninja, who have fought against powerful legendary Pokémon and Sceptile who is fast enough to tag Deoxys in its Speed-Forme, heck even when the cards are stacked against it, Lucario can still pull through, like when it took a beating from the Fire-Fighting type, Blaziken, who had a major type advantage.

Wiz: This brings us to Lucario’s biggest weaknesses, its dual-typing makes it weaker to Fighting, Fire and Ground type attacks and while it has a diverse move-pool to draw from, Lucario’s less-than-bulky frame can leave it open to taking heavy damage. With that said though, there’s a reason why Lucario has remained a favourite among the strongest trainers, to a well-trained and skillful Lucario, those flaws matter, when Lucario’s strength reaches its full potential.

Venoct Seeks Out Death Battle[]

Wiz: Throughout its history, Japan has had numerous records with mysterious creatures known as Youkai, a race of creatures, responsible for antics ranging from humourous misfortune to the utterly terrifying and these creatures have continued to exist to this very day.

'Boomstick: Some days you may get blessed with a cute, cuddly red-fire kitten or cursed by a literal Kyubi, Naruto eat your heart out.

Wiz: One of the most enigmatic and dramatic of these creatures, is known as Venoct. Once a human boy living life in his village, Venoct became a Yo-Kai when he witnessed his village being destroyed by a sinister Yo-Kai called Rubeus J, from then on, Venoct embarked on a quest for vengeance against Rubeus J, a quest that continued into the modern day.

Boomstick: Venoct is classified as a Lightning Attribute Yo-Kai and like other Yo-Kai are invisible to normal humans and animals.

Wiz: Right, Yo-Kai can only be seen through specific means such as through a Yo-Kai Watch. Venoct is also packing a variety of attacks. First, he has a standard attack which utilises a lunge attack from his dragon scarf, then we get Voltage, which calls down a heavy barrage of lightning, Venoct’s Blessing, which is an Inspiriting technique that increases his or his allies speed, Vanishing Act, which makes him invisible, even to other Yokai and finally we have his Soultimate move, Octo Snake, which is when he multiplies the heads of his dragon scarf and lunges at his enemies in a vicious barrage.

Boomstick: If that weren't enough, during a battle with a Yo-Kai called the Narwail, Venoct displayed the ability to transform into Illuminoct and while this does contradict the games quite a bit, we're gonna toe-the-line here and give him this form since official media has portrayed him as capable of transforming into it.

Wiz: As Illuminoct, Venoct is clad in golden energy and his colour changes to reflect this. He gains an immense boost of power and some upgraded techniques, such as Light of Light, which heals his wounds and Dragon Flash, which is a stronger variant of his Octo Snake attack.

Boomstick: Venoct has come a long way since his first encounter with Rubeus J, he became a top tier Yo-Kai in his own right, known wide and far for his power and skill.

Wiz: Specifically, he has been capable to going toe-to-toe with some of the toughest Yo-Kai, one-shot Slimamander, split a body of water with a single blow and should easily scale to other Yo-Kai of similar power. Such as his best frenemy, Kyubi, who is able to cause volcanic eruptions and other Yo-Kai such as Dianyan who is able to crush mountains out of sheer strength. He has moved faster-than-the-eye can see and should scale to other Yo-Kai who can dodge lightning.

Boomstick: And finally, Venoct came face-to-face with his mortal enemy, Rubeus J! This confrontation led to one of the most awesome “One-Man Army” moments ever!

Wiz: Venoct charged full-on against Rubeus J and his entire army, storming through wave after wave of enemies and finally took down Rubeus J once and for all.

Boomstick: Wow, what a badass. That is one of the best things I’ve ever seen! You got my respect, Dragon-Scarf guy.

Wiz: However, Venoct is not without his flaws, as a Yo-Kai with the Lightning-Attribute, he is weak to ground based attacks and his limited amount of attacks make him more viable working as part of a team as opposed to a solo fighter.

Boomstick: He also has quite the one-track mind. I mean, he literally spent several decades chasing down Rubeus J, with nothing else of note to mention. Also, when he finally defeated Rubeus J, he literally just took off to find the next strongest Yo-kai up from him after Rubeus J warned him about him.

Wiz: Even with that said, Venoct is certainly a Yo-Kai in a league of his own.

Pre-Fight[]

Wiz: Alright, the combatants are set, let's end this debate once and for all.

Boomstick: It's time for a Death Battle!

Fight[]

We open on a large forestated area at night with the moon and its light shining down illuminating everything, with the echoing of distant and faraway running water, being further punctuated by the sound of rustling leaves. We then observe a lone figure, a Lucario, meditating underneath a Yo-Kai shrine. Another figure is seen hovering above, silhouetted against the moon as it flies through. He picks up on an energy down beneath him, causing him to stop in midair.

Venoct: Spikes? Blue and Grey? That canine appearance? No doubt, its Pit Bull, that despicable coward.

Lucario felt something close.

Lucario: Huh?

Fight!

Lucario jumped out of the way only to see the shrine he was meditating under get destroyed. He lands straight on his feet and stands defiantly.

Lucario: What? Show yourself!

Once again another attack came straight for him and he felt it once more and quickly dodged out of the way.

Lucario: Darn it!

Lucario began to run through the forest, jumping from tree to tree.

Venoct: He can’t see me? Good.

Venoct raised his hand in the air and called down a barrage of lightning, Lucario felt where it was about to land and dodged each strike. Lucario, settled on the ground to gather his senses.

Lucario: The Aura is with me.

Lucario’s Aura scanned the area.

Lucario Aura Scans Venoct

Venoct was in pursuit.

Venoct: Hmph where did he go?

He stopped his flying abruptly, as he saw numerous after images of his target surrounding him as they all attempted to attack him at once. Venoct, once again, called down a large barrage of lightning, dispatching the images. However, there was something off. Venoct was suddenly knocked back by a large orb of energy and within a moment, his target was now in front of him.

Lucario: So that’s what you are.

Lucario straightened its palm against Venoct’s chest and suddenly an enormous shockwave launched him back into a far off cliffside.

Venoct: Urgh! Well then, show me what you got!

Venoct’s large elongated dragon-scarf extended out and attempted to catch the opponent. Lucario readied his Bone-Club, breaking it in two in order to dual wield. Both dragon-heads closed the gap in on him, Lucario held them in place with both Bone-Clubs. Suddenly, the image of several swords shot up out of the ground around Lucario. Upon the swords fading away, Lucario received an immense boost in power and used his Bone-Clubs to shrug off the two dragon heads.

Lucario then threw his Bone-Clubs up in the air out of sight and leapt up in the air. He closed in on Venoct and readied himself to deliver a collective barrage of Bullet Punches. Venoct charged up his power and released his Soultimate, Octo-Snake. Both attacks collided, with neither giving way.

Venoct, however, started to exude a mysterious energy, Inspiriting himself. The speed of his attack doubled. The Bullet Punch was overtaken and with that, Lucario was repeatedly mauled by the dragon scarf.

Lucario dropped to the ground, barely able to stand. Another barrage of Lightning, was sent down atop of him, barely missing him as he dodged. Suddenly, Venoct was hit from the stray Bone-Clubs, sending him falling towards the ground. However, as he looked towards the ground as he fell, he spotted Lucario beneath him, readying his fists as he fell as they glowed with an immense power. Just as he closed in on Lucario, Lucario delivered an immense Close Combat to Venoct in midair.

Venoct took an immense beating, any more and he knew he wouldn’t make it, as such he pulled out his last resort.

Venoct: Enough!

Venoct let out a shining golden aura, blowing Lucario back. When Lucario steadied himself up, he saw Venoct now clad in a golden colour. He was now Illuminoct.

Illuminoct: Not bad, but this prolonged farce has ended.

Illuminoct once again unleashed a barrage of lightning, far more devastating than before, leaving everything around Lucario a desolate crater.

Then at the centre of the crater, a bright blue Aura shone through and radiated the area. Lucario had activated his Mega Evolution, giving off an incredible power.

Illuminoct: Hmph, of course. It never rains, it pours.

Mega Lucario readied an enormous Aura Sphere and let it loose towards Illuminoct. Illuminoct attempted to block it with his dragon scarf, fighting against it, struggling to keep it away. Suddenly, in a burst of Extreme Speed, Mega Lucario leapt straight into the air, and gave the Aura Sphere an extra push with a Force Palm.

The Sphere collided with Illuminoct, unleashing an immense explosion. When the dust settled, Mega Lucario was on the ground homing in on a small crater where Venoct lay.

Illuminoct: *Deep Exhale* That it?

Illuminoct emerged from the crater in a bright shower of light healing him. He then readied, his scarf again to unleash his Soultimate attack, Dragon Flash. The dragon heads on his scarf multiplied and grew to an enormous size.

Mega-Lucario: What?!!

The dragon heads homed in on him. One after another, the dragon heads attacked Mega Lucario relentlessly, lifting him up into the air and continuing their attack midair, until finally, one approached Mega Lucario’s limp body, with its jaws open wide. The mouth came crashing down on top of Mega Lucario and all fell silent.

Then suddenly…

An enormous burst of energy erupted straight out of the dragon’s mouth.

Illuminoct looked on in amazement. Then a figure, Mega Lucario, burst forth from the energy, launched itself towards Illuminoct and relentlessly attacked him with a Close Combat. Then suddenly, with one final Aura Sphere…

Mega Lucario: You can’t compare to the power of Aura!

Illuminoct: AAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!

The Aura Sphere exploded on impact, leaving nothing but Mega Lucario standing in its wake. Mega Lucario powered down to its original form and leapt away from the destroyed area.

K.O.

Results[]

Boomstick: Whoa, do you think I could learn some of that Aura stuff some day?

Wiz: Venoct was a powerful foe, especially with his combined years of experience, intelligence and sheer tenacity, but Lucario takes this fight in a lot of categories.

Boomstick: Venoct may have been quite a lot smarter and expereinced, but it ultimately failed to really match up to Lucario's superior strength, durability and Venoct's invisible Yo-Kai ability didn't really matter.

Wiz: Yo-Kai may be invisible, but they are still physically present in the real world and are not apart of some intangible plane and as such are able to interact with people and objects from the physical realm. As it is made very clear that Yo-Kai themselves give off a unique Aura, in fact this is primarily how the Yo-Kai Watch is able to identify them. With Lucario being a literal master of detecting Aura and using it in combat, it gave him a sure-fire counter to Venoct's invisibility and being able to detect and identify him. Even if you want to argue that that couldn't work, or that Yo-Kai are intangible and the living can't make contact with them, despite not being true, moves such as Foresight allow him to bypass intangibility.

Boomstick: So yeah, Lucario was basically a walkin', talkin' Yo-Kai Watch in this scenario. He also just had the vastly superior stats goin' for him.

Wiz: Venoct could scale to Kyubi and Dianyan, who have clear mountain level feats under their belt, Lucario on the other hand was able to take an unrestrained attack from Eternamax Eternamus, who's power was able to effect the entire island of Galar. Similarly, he should also scale in power to Pikachu, who was able to disperse an enormous storm of clouds across an enormous range, ranging to an entire island.

Boomstick: Clearly, Lucario held the edge in power and durability. Speed however, was actually quite similar as both have been able to show consistent lightning dodging or at least scale to others that have.

Wiz: And while Venoct, could boost his speed through Inspiriting, Lucario's Extreme Speed could easily close that gap. Speaking of which, Lucario also just had a more diverse set of moves and attacks to draw from and could also boost his own stats and lower Venocts quite easily and could even take advantage of his Attribute weakness with his Bone-Club attack. Venoct was a skilled, experienced and tenacious fighter, but Lucario had the right strength, durability and Aura prowess to take him out.

Boomstick: Guess you could say this Yo-Kai could only Watch his defeat.

Wiz: The winner is Lucario.
