When Viral confronts Kamina, losing his mecha's helmet to the newly formed Gurren Lagann, Viral vowed a vendetta on the human especially after the death of his superior Thymilph. But as Viral transferred to Adiane and Cytomander, questioning the humans' ability to use Gunmen without an external power source, he learned Kamina died around the time of Thymilph and realizes his rival had been Simon. Viral's resolve to defeat Simon became great enough that he allowed Lordgenome to grant him immortality, though he learned his creator only did it to bare witness to Simon's defeat.
